Inclusion & Accessibility
Relaxed performances
Relaxed performances are open to everyone — especially those who may benefit from a more flexible theatre experience.
This includes:
- Families with young children
- People with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Those with sensory or communication differences
- People with learning disabilities
These performances are adjusted to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere. For example:
- Audience noise (both voluntary and involuntary) is completely fine
- Auditorium lighting stays on at low level during the show
- Loud sound effects are softened
- You can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time
- A quiet space is available in the foyer if you need a break
Relaxed performances usually take place during a matinée or on a Tuesday evening.
Social Stories
Our Social Stories give a clear, visual overview of what to expect when visiting our theatre. They include information about the show, its content, and how the relaxed performance is adapted — helping you feel comfortable and confident before your visit.

Wheelchair access
Wheelchair access: Available through the main theatre doors.
Toilet: Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available directly from the foyer.
Drop-off & Parking:
- Drop-off bay located at the main entrance.
- One disabled parking space in the car park (immediately on the right past the gate).
Reserving the accessible seating:
- Seat C3 is wheelchair accessible (same level, near the door).
- A discounted caregiver seat (C2) can be booked at the same time.
- When shows near capacity, seat C2 may be released for general booking — please book early.
- Row D is also step-free.

Hearing loops
Progress Theatre has a hearing loop system. Please switch your hearing aid to T.
Occasionally, we may offer signed performances. We cannot accommodate signers as audience members - please don't bring your own signer.

Assistance dogs
If you have an assistance dog, please contact us when booking so we can advise on seating with suitable access.
