PYT Faciliator
Freelance Drama Facilitator(s) Progress Theatre
Progress Youth Theatre has been running workshops for young theatre-makers and aspiring actors for over 70 years. We are recruiting for one or two experienced, dynamic and positive freelance drama facilitator(s) to lead the following groups:
Birdies Group (School years: 3, 4, & 5) and Parcans Group (School years: 6, 7, & 8) on Saturdays 9.30am – 1pm.
Our Birdies and Parcans sessions are based in our working theatre and involve theatre games, improvisations, script work and more. We are looking for a facilitator experienced in creating a supportive environment for young people to improve their skills, gain confidence and make friends. You will be required to plan and create weekly session plans and when appropriate work towards a small scale presentation to share with the parents at the end of the term. Your sessions should grow a passion for theatre in our young people, stimulate their imagination, and help develop their enthusiasm and confidence to ask questions about the world around them. A current DBS check is required and can be arranged by Progress if required.
Role: Freelance Drama Facilitator
Workshops: Saturdays 9.30am – 1pm, 10 weeks each academic term
Fee: £25 per hour
Blinders Group (School years: 12 & 13) Mondays 8pm – 10pm
Our Blinders sessions are based in our working theatre. We focus on building knowledge around different theatrical practitioners, focusing on advanced skills on stage and developing technical production skills backstage. We start the year looking at classical theatre skills and finish the year looking at contemporary theatre practice. You will be required to plan and create weekly session plans. We aim to produce at least one show a year that is open to the public, as part of these workshops. Your sessions should develop a passion for theatre in our young people, stimulate their imagination, and help develop their enthusiasm and confidence to ask questions about the world around them. A current DBS check is required and can be arranged by Progress if required.

Workshops: Mondays 8pm – 10pm, 10 weeks each academic term
Fee: £25 per hour
Experience Desired:
Minimum 2 years teaching experience including leading sessions independently.
Communicating effectively and confidently to the children, young people and to their parents/carers.
Conducting yourself in a professional, warm manner at all times.
Generating a safe and welcoming environment.
Knowledge of texts, dramaturgy and designs from marginalised identities.
Display both knowledge and understanding of child protection, equality and diversity and a commitment to treating all children as individuals and with equal concern and respect.
