Auditions for Wyrd Sisters

Terry Pratchett takes Shakespeare’s Macbeth and then turns it up until the knobcomes off.  It’s all there – a wicked duke and duchess, the ghost of the murdered king, dim soldiers, strolling players and a land in peril.  And who stands between the Kingdom and destruction?  Granny Weatherwax (intolerant, self-opinionated, powerful), Nanny Ogg (down-to-earth, vulgar) and Magrat Garlick (naïve, fond of occult jewellery and bunnies).


Granny Weatherwax – a witch. Tall and thin. Female 60s+

Nanny Ogg – a witch. Short and dumpy. Female, 60s+

Magrat Garlick – a witch. Female, 20-30s

Verence – Late King of Lancre

Leonel Felmet – Duke of Lancre

Lady Felment – Duchess of Lancre

Vitoller – an actor/manager

Mrs Vitoller – his wife


Tomjon – son of Verence

Hwel – a playwright




Robbers, players, guests, guards, peasants. 

Aside from the witches, ages and genders are flexible.

Auditions open to all.


You only need to attend one of the audition dates and there is no need to prepare anything in advance.  If you would like to see a script, please ask Chris (details below) or there are plenty of copies in Reading Central Library.

There will be a read through of the play at Progress Theatre at 2pm on Sat 7th Sept – all welcome.
